The Quran literally meaning “the recitation”,is the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from God (Arabic: الله, Allah). Some would say it is the most important religious text on earth in terms of its sheer influence on the lives of over 1.6 billion human beings around the world.
The Quran lays out several rules for the conduct of war.
“And fight in the way of God against those who fight you, but commit no transgressions.”
It also, in many ways only sanctions “defensive war.”
The second rule is that the Quran forbids religious terrorism in all its form.
The Quran states very clearly that there is no compulsion in religion (2:256). Muslims were therefore not to use jihad as a means to “impose” their belief system on others.
Despite these clear injunctions this is exactly what is happening in places like Syria for example where Sunni Islamic extremists have repeatedly violated the Quran in their blood lust to massacre civilians and kill Christians.
The third is the Quranic injunction concerning making “peace” (8:61) – something the Sunni Islamists and extremists in Syria will most likely violate as well in the name of Islam.
Suicide and murder are also strictly forbidden in Quran.
The Quran is most clear on this subject and says in respect to suicide: “Do not, by your own hands, throw yourselves into destruction.” Quran 2:195.
The Quran also says “…You shall not kill yourselves…Anyone who does this transgression, maliciously and deliberately We (God) will condemn them to the Hellfire!” (4:29-30).
With respect to the question of murder the Quran says killing or murdering one innocent human being is the equivalent to “killing everyone in the entire world.” Likewise saving one person from being killed is as if you saved all mankind (5:32).
The Quran doesn’t allow or sanctify the murder of innocent people regardless of his or her religion!
As such the Quran can be used as a weapon against the terrorists , who advocate the murder and suicide of others in the name of Islam.
This unfortunately is a concept completely lost on the FBI and Department of Defense which has repeatedly refused to use the Quran effectively in the war on terror.
