Poetess Book launched.
CHITRAL: The Anjuman Taraqqi-e-Khowar Booni on Thursday held the Launching Ceremony of “Lala-e-Koohsar”, a collection of Urdu poems by Chitral’s first female poet Rahima Naz, at the Paragon College of Commerce Booni. The DCO Chitral Rahmat Ullah Wazir was the chief guest on the occasion while Afzal, the president Ismaili Regional Council, presided over the ceremony.
Alauddin Urfi, a notable poet of Khowar, and Sarfaraz Ali Khan Sarfaraz, a renowned poet and critic, presented papers and praised the aesthetic sensibilities and stylistic features of the poetic collection.
Other speakers on the occasion were Sardar Hussain, Fazlur Rahman, Zakir Zakhmi and Zafarullah Parwaz. They all hailed the venturesome undertaking of the poetess.
The chief guest, in his address, appreciated the poetic excellence of the poetess and stressed that such efforts be morally and financially supported by the people of the area. The President greatly appreciated the bold step taken by a female poet in the back-cloth of the complexities of man-dominated society. He called the effort to be a wake-up-call for all the female-folk to bring forth their hidden potentials
Flood Affected cry for Watan Card.
CHITRAL: The flood affected people of different valleys of Chitral have warned the government of launching violent protests if they were not provided with watan cards announced by the government for which they have been wandering from pillar to post for the last nine months. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, the representatives of different flood-affected valleys Rahmat Khan (Yarkhoon), Muhammad Kabir (Sheshi Koh), Khan (Oveer), Sher Khan (Chitral town), Gulab Khan (Arandu), Noor Hussain (Bumburate) and others described their ordeals in detail and expressed their dismay over the attitude of NADRA officials towards them. They said that the NADRA officials constantly summon the affected people to the offices on every Sunday for issuance of watan cards but each time ask them to turn up next week on one pretext or the other. They said that their names had been selected for issuance of watan cards but the NADRA officials are employing delaying tactics. The affected people complained that they have spent thousands of rupees to visit the NADRA offices from the distant valleys of the district. Some of the affectees said that although they have been issued watan cards but the ATM cards of United Bank Limited is not accepted by the machine while the bank officials express their helplessness. They asked the government to take action against the NADRA and UBL officials who have caused to multiply the miseries of the flood affected people rendered homeless.
