The Indian Batsman and our former Indian Cricket captain, rather known as "Wall" at the International level, currently in the Indian cricket team touring Australia, has offerred to open the Indian innings along with Wasim Jaffer. It is our dilemma that we don’t have a solid opening pair to open the innings along with Jaffer. At the same time the acclaimed Indian quartert (the gang of four :Tendulkar,Dravid,Ganguly and V.V.S.Laxman) has to be accomodated in the final playing eleven.Above all Yuvaraj Singh, one of our younger crop of player currently in good form and nick has also to be adopted in the final playing eleven.Of late Dinesh Karthick has been wayward in his opening, the England tour being the exception.Hence, we are in a dilemma who should open the innings along with Wasim Jaffer.Realising our difficulty, Rahul Dravid offers to open the innings at MCG, beginning on 26 th of December, 2007.Considering his past records Dravid was at his best of his performance at No.3, averaging 54+.But as an opener, his average was only 30+.There is also another option of giving the opening slot ot V.V.S.Laxman partenering Jaffer. But there should be a safe batsman at 5 down or 6 down. Therefore, taking all the above mentioned aspects into consideration,Kumble along with the Indian Think Tank has to take a quick decision,so that we have to field our best eleven at the first test beginning at Melbourn.
