How to Raise Pretentious but Difficult Pet Breeds

Pet breeds. Difficult pet breeds? Oh, me! Oh, my! Where should we begin? Raising a pet is a one-kind type of responsibility. It’s right there on par with raising a child more or less. There may be some different levels of implication, but the fact that you’re choosing to take a living creature under your care still stands. This is why most parents are so reluctant to welcome to the household a pet when their child is adorably insisting on it. You can’t just get a puppy, play with it for a while, and then dump it once it “stops being cute.” Seriously, you can’t – morally and legally.

But, hey, if all your children are asking is for a cute little puppy or a cat, then you’re one of the lucky people. You’re lucky because the request has nothing to do with the countless of other pet breeds and kinds that are out there. What if you one day came back home to the insistences of your child to get a snake as a pet? Well, we’ll tell you what to do, don’t worry!

Regardless of whether it’s a pooch or a shark we’re talking about, the first thing to do is get yourself and or your kids organized by using a worksheet. But wait, before we get into details about what to do, let’s see what kind of pet breeds are there.

Ped Breeds: Dogs

Getting a dog might be the toughest choice you can make. That’s because, in the case of other species, dogs are broken down in countless of breeds, all with their specifics and requirements. Naturally, some are more pretentious and difficult to contain. Here’s what you can do.

  • Research: This is the first step to any new pet-owner. Look up all the requirements and conditions of your mutt. A dog has different needs when it comes to exercise, regime, grooming, and even interactions with other animals or humans. The first steps can be taken just by being able to now recognize the difference between an American bulldog and a pit bull, for example.
  • Puppy Coach 101: One of the surest ways to get your pooch on the same page as you is by training them. But because not everyone is suited for the job, for only $2.99, all iPhone users can get a much-needed help in the shape of this dog trainer.
  • Tagg: Tagg is the all-in-one app that also deals with one of the biggest fears of all pet owners – accidentally losing sight of their beloved. If your dog ever goes astray, you can safely track it down via GPS. Moreover, this app also keeps track of your dog’s wellbeing and general living conditions.

Ped Breeds: Exotic

What exactly classifies as an “exotic” breed? Well, anything that you don’t typically find on a stroll by a pet shop. The “normal” pet breeds usually end with dogs, cats, birds, or hamsters, so the selection array is pretty wide. Strangely enough, not everything that falls under this category is difficult to raise. Take these examples as solid proof.

  • Hedgehogs: They’re cute, they’re easy to care for, and they’re especially good around kids.
  • Skunks: Aside from some legal barriers, as long as you watch their health, skunks are cute and cuddly.
  • There are also more exotic pets that would be accessible.

Of course, every forest has its rotten trees, so the majority of the exotic pet breeds you can acquire can be a handful. Notorious examples include wild cats (they don’t even need to be tigers or lions) or large, undomesticated canines (take wolves for example). We don’t necessarily go against recommending them, but they do require a lot of research and a lot of extensive knowledge.

One common trait shared by these pretentious pet breeds is that they’re not easy to relocate or to find a new home for.

And because we know you require a whole new set of extra hands to deal with all the typical pet-owner issues, we’ve also readied up several helpful apps that must be part of the asset of any owner.

  • Pet Minder: Pet Minder is an Android app which serves as an information storage medium for anyone having an animal under their care. It remembers the dates when you take your pet out for a walk, give it medicine, or take it to the vet’s office. The best part is that curtsy of technological advancements, you can also install it on your computer in case you’re an Apple enthusiast.
  • iCam: iCam is as useful to a pet-owner as it is to a fresh parent. One of the biggest concerns on our heads arise when we’re away from our pets, and we can’t help but wonder whether they’re plotting the destruction of the entire household or not. Fear not, this application gives you the distance eyes you need.

Even though these apps are a nice addition, one fact still stands – research before acquiring your desired pet breeds is the key here. Difficult pet breeds require a lot of dedication and invested effort. So do your homework and stay organized.
