Srinagar, September 03, (Scoop News)- In order to bring visible improvements in the working of Jammu and Kashmir Police and make it a modern police force, the Organization is upgrading its infrastructural assets with modern living and working facilities. This could strengthen the living standards of the personnel and improve professional policing.
This was disclosed by the Director General of Police (DGP), K. Rajendra Kumar, while commissioning the Model Police Station building at Ghagwal in Samba District today. He said that Police Station is of much importance in the field of policing and JKP is focussing to improve their working by modernising methods of investigation, besides infrastructure and communication.
Rajendra said that the modernization of the force in all fields of policing has been taken into hand and various model police stations constructed at different places in the State. We are on the job and more police station buildings are being constructed to improve our working standards in the field of public service.
DGP said that in view of the increasing manpower, the constructions have become necessary to enhance the facilities for the personnel as per the latest requirements. A mega construction programme was taken into hand to build more constructions across the State, providing better facilities to the Jawans and officers. Alternate accommodations have also been constructed at various places in the State to provide living facilities for the security forces deployed for law and order duties, he added.
Rajendra also commissioned 4-storey hostel blocks at District Police Lines and Police Training School Kathua. The buildings with mess and dining facilities have been completed within a period of two years at a cost of Rs. 2.70 crores. The buildings have been constructed under modernisation programme.
Before commissioning the buildings, the DGP was briefed by Managing Director, Police Housing Corporation, Dilbag Singh about the construction made by the corporation. He said that the buildings having mess and dining facilities would help to provide better policing to the people with quick response. Earth quick resistant column structure has been utilized in the construction as per the prescribed norms. The buildings have been completed within a period of two years, he added.
Rajendra appreciated the efforts of the officers and engineers of Police Housing Corporation for ensuring quality material and time bound construction of the buildings. He asked them to keep in mind weather scenario of the particular area before finalizing the plans of construction in that area. He said that the constructions should be equipped with facilities including recreational for the personnel, who are always found busy in professional policing. Proper supervision by the senior officers would make performance more satisfactory, said the DGP.
Later the DGP chaired a meeting and interacted with the officers of Jammu Range. He stressed upon the participants to dedicate themselves for public service and ensure rule of law, safety of the people at every cost. Pace of under execution works in the range was also discussed in the meeting and it was emphasised to complete the constructions within the prescribed period.
Among others, the DGP was accompanied by IGP Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar, DIG Jammu Range, Shakeel Ahmed Beig, SSsP, Mohan Lal, Anil Mangotra and other police officers.
