New Delhi: A nurse in Haryana’s Yamunanagar Police Station allegedly took off her clothes to protest against the police’s failure to arrest three men who allegedly gang-raped her.
The woman entered the gates of the police station and began screaming before tearing her off clothes. Policemen rushed out and forcefully dragged her into the station. The victim was allegedly beaten and manhandled by the police. No women officers were present to handle the situation. The nurse also claimed that the police had been harassing her when she had gone to the station to register her case and give her statement. However, the police claimed that the woman has not yet registered a complaint. “She does not want to give a statement. What do we do? If the procedure is not followed then how can we arrest anybody? It is a serious crime and we need to properly enquire about the case,” a police official said.Meanwhile, the victim’s brother said the police are not even ready to listen to them. “We had gone to the SP’s office but nothing is being done about the case. She was slapped and mistreated. I feel so helpless. What do we do?” he asked.
