Jammu, February 07, (Scoop News)-Corroborating the views of great scientist and former President of India, Dr. A P J Abdul Kalam and the Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh expressed by them during their recent visit to University of Jammu in connection with 101st Indian Science Congress, the J&K Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather today said that scientific temperament makes people more rational less sentimental and much logical in their reactions.
Speaking at the valedictory function of the 4 days Children’s Science Congress held at Jammu University, Rather, who was chief guest on the occasion, said that the scientific temperament also imbibes spirit of more understanding and makes sympathetic towards environment, flora and fauna particularly towards all the human being regardless any caste and creed.
The Vice-Chancellor, University of Jammu, Prof. MPS Isher, convener, children Science Congress, Prof. PankajSrivatava, General Secretary Indian Science Congress Association (ISCA), Prof. Arun Kumar, General Secretary, ISCA, Executive Secretary, ISCA, Dr. Amit Krishna Dr. B P Singh and Dr. D K Panday, a large number of children scientist from across the country and senior faculty members of the university of Jammu were present on the occasion.
Rather said that science is synonymous with logic which immediately picks out and casts aside all things, ideas and arguments which are illogical. Rather cited many examples to underscore the importance of science adding that science has cleared all the myths and superstitions associated with eclipse of the sun and the moon and today science explains in very clear terms as to what the real facts are about the eclipse of the sun and the moon and how exactly the event takes place from its beginning to the end. “Scientific calculations predict even the exact time and date of such events, years in advance and also project as to in what shape the event shall be visible at different places on our globe,” he added.
Rather said it was just a little over one year ago that many people believed that our world would come to an end on the 21st December, 2012. It was left only to the scientists of the world to come out with very valid and simple scientific arguments to clarify that no super natural phenomenon was developing within or around our planet, which would suggest that the world would come to an end all of a sudden on this day. All of us were saved of un-necessary panic.
Describing computer as the basis for learning science, Rather said, acknowledging this fact, the State Government has fully exempted sales of computer and their related items from taxes.
