Jammu, January 28 (Scoop News) – The first meeting of the cabinet-Sub Committee on fifth working Group about State-Centre relationship was held here today under the chairmanship of the Minister for Finance & Ladakh Affairs, Abdul Rahim Rather.
The other members of the largest ever Cabinet Sub-Committee in the history of State include Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Taj Mohi-ud-Din, Minister for Rural Development, Ali Mohammad Sagar, Minister for Tourism, Rigzin Jora, Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution, Qamar Ali Akhoon, Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla, Minister for Health and Hroticulture, Sham lal Sharma.
Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh had constituted five working Groups on varied issues related to Jammu and Kashmir to address the urges and aspirations of the people of the State which also included working Group headed by Justice Sageer Ahmed on Centre-State relationship. The Working Group after exhaustive exercise on the subject involving maximum political and social leaders a few months ago recently presented its report to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The Centre has sought state’s views and observations on the recommendations of the Justice Sageer Working Group.
It is in this backdrop, the State Government constituted a Cabinet-Sub Committee headed by Finance Minister for an holistic overview of the recommendations of the Working Group.
Rather in his introductory remarks highlighted the importance and sensitivity of the subject viz Centre-State relationship and asked the colleagues in the cabinet Sub-Committee to have an indepth study of the recommendations of the Working Group so that a holistic and realistic report is prepared for the Cabinet as early as possible.
The Secretary Law, G . H. Tantary also attended the meeting.
