RAVENSBURG, Germany – About 15,000 enthusiasts have put together the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle in Ravensburg, southern Germany. according to Europe’s biggest puzzle maker.
Puzzle manufacturer Ravensburger AG has claimed that 1,141,800 pieces were assembled in five hours on Sunday. The puzzle takes up almost 6,500-square foot (600-square meter) and has almost covered the entire town square.
Ravensburg resident Sonja Haussner told The Associated Press, ”We really like puzzling.”
A Guinness Book spokeswoman said Monday that the Ravensburg claim to have assembled the world’s largest jigsaw puzzle had been submitted but that it has yet to be approved.
”We tried and we succeeded,” Heinrich Huntelmann, a spokesman for Ravensburger AG, was quoted as saying by AP.
Ravensburger AG is commemorating its 125th anniversary of operating in the town.
