Jammu, August 11 (Scoop News)- Expressing anguish over communal flare-up in Kishtwar on the auspicious day of Eid-ul-Fitr, resulting in the loss of two valuable lives and its fallout in various other parts of Jammu region, causing loss of one more human life, Raghunath Bazaar Businessmen Association (RBBA), has appealed to the members of all the communities to exercise restrain and maintain communal harmony and peace.
It has appealed to the samer elements from all the religious communities to come forward and not allow the situation to escalate further. Contending that Jammu has earned the distinction of maintaining utmost communal harmony even in the face off all provocations during last 24 years, the RBBA has laid stress on maintaining the same at all cost.
The association has expressed serious concern over the developing situation casting its shadow on the ongoing Amarnath Yatra, Vaishno Devi Yatra and Machail Yatra in Kishtwar, which has since been suspended, with its cascading effect on the business and sentiments of the people.
The association has demanded an independent probe into the circumstances leading to communal riots in Kishtwar, and the culprits of the same be appropriated punished, without sparing anyone. The failure of the administration, at any level, if found, must be dealt with under the law.
In a joint statement, issued here today by the president of RBBA, Baldev Khullar, Mohit Gupta Senior Vice President, Madan Mohan Sharma Vice President, Sanjay Sethi Gen Secretary RBBA, Ashwani Kohli Secretary, Amit Ramesh Kapur Treasurer, Om Prakash Mahajan (Kaakuji) and Ajesh Rohmetra, the association has demanded immediate assessment of the losses suffered by the business community and others in Kishtwar and announcement of due compensation for the same. This will go to ease the situation to a great extent, the RBBA has suggested.
