Recognise a Heart Attack and What one needs to do if alone when it strikes

This pain exists for often 30 minutes. Several patients have commonly described this severe pain as a sensation of stabbing or burning pain in the chest. It is also described as a crushing, squeezing or constricting pain. The nature of this pain may vary in intensity and severity. Often one finds himself as a spectator. Nothing relieving it-neither rest nor common measures.

Nausea, vomiting, profuse sweating and perspiration, flatulence, giddiness and breathlessness could be the other symptoms accompanying the chest pain. These symptoms do not necessarily indicate the presence of a Heart Attack. The presence of these symptoms without chest pain does not mean that one needs to make a diagnosis of a Heart Attack.

Generally diabetic patients may not have any symptoms or chest pain. Only ECGs and other relevant screenings and investigations can show that these patients have actually suffered a Heart Attack. It is also found that all pains in the left hand do not mean and indicate a Heart Attack. There could be several reasons apart from a Heart problem for pain in the left hand. Pains arising and fleeting on the chest wall do not necessarily originate from the Heart. Pain arising by hand, shoulder and neck movements may indicate and imply some muscular or skeletal disorders and not Heart Attack or chest pain.

One needs to properly analyse left arm pain or chest pain by taking into consideration Age, Past and Family history and other risk factors to categorise it as Heart related pain. Most dreaded are those which arise from the Heart or its major vessel. If the left arm pain is aggravated after meals, especially while walking uphill or after performing physical activity relevantly may symbolise Cardiac pain. Commonly, cervical spondylitis, muscle inflammation or chest wall joint affection causes chest pain. Feeling more comfortable in a sitting posture, rather than when lying down, pain that increases on exertion and is relieved at rest are some of the points to be taken into notice as symptoms associated with left arm pain which may symbolise Heart related pain.

If one experiences such a pain/discomfort, take a tablet of soluble Aspirin or Sorbitrate 5 mg under the tongue. Repeat the dose after every 20 minutes. If the pain still persists avoid the tablet: your blood pressure may drop significantly and intensify the pain. Be calm, it will help your Heart. Try and to avoid panic and approach the closest medical centre where you can get an ECG done.

It is also observed that many people in the race for acquiring wealth forget about health. People here sometimes fail to understand and recognise the dreaded symptoms that symbolise into a deadly Cardiac pain. Follow a strict and disciplined diet regime. Avoid eatables without oil. Yoga can also be considered as an option to include in your daily exercise regime which will allow you to learn to feel your pulse and offer relaxation.
