Reflections on Wrestlemania 23

As I sit here typing this article about Wrestlemania 23, I gotta say this Pay-Per-View was an all right show. Don’t get me wrong, the battle of the billionaires was a pretty entertaining match and probably the best part of the show, but some parts of the show was not as successful.

One of the worst match of the night was the match between Melina and Ashley. Melina had earned her spot at Wrestlemania, but Ashley clearly didn’t have the ring skills to match up to Melina. Just to get people into the match, they made it a lumberjill match. The match between Chris Benoit and MVP was one of the best matchs of the night. MVP was no doubt on top of his game, but the ring savy of Benoit ended up defeating MVP once again.

The ECW match was a match I would like to forget. Batista’s match with The Undertaker was such a great moment in WWE history. It took ten year’s for the Undertaker to win a heavyweight championship at Wrestlemania. The last occuring at Wrestlemania 13. Now, who can ever forget the Money in the bank ladder match involving eight superstars. This year it involved The Hardy’s, Edge, Randy Orton, Mr. Kennedy, Finlay, CM Punk, and King Booker. I gotta say this was probably the best MITB match from previous year’s. During the course of the match Edge and Jeff Hardy were ejected from the match due to injuries. The winning person ended up being Mr. Kennedy. The match between Kane and the Great Khali was no doubt a pretty interesting match due to their size. But just like I thought, The Great Khali dominated Kane from the beginning. Kane did manage to slam Khali during the match. John Cena and Shawn Michaels put on a hell of a show. It was a pretty good match with John Cena coming out on top. John Cena continues his dominance over the WWE Championship.

So after careful examination, I gotta admit Wrestlemania 23 was a pretty good Show. It may not have been as good as WM22, but it comes close. My vote would have to be an 8 out of 10.
