Reflections on WWE Judgment Day 2007

This past May, we had a Pay-Per-View called WWE Judgment Day. It was one of the best Pay-Per-Views in a long time. I think it was a lot better than Wrestlemania 23. Many of the matches were main event level matches capable of being main events on separate PPV’s. It was a classic PPV worth every penny.
The match between Ric Flair and Carlito was a great way of starting off the show. Even though Carlito had his spots, Ric Flair came out on top. A successful veteran is alway’s a great sight. One match I didn’t care about was Bobby Lashley against The McMahons and Umaga. It was too quick, I got up to get some more popcorn and the match was over. I’m still lost as to what happened! Well anyway’s, I believe the next match was CM Punk against Elijiah Burke. No doubt this match was one of a kind, considering that these two were ECW stars. None the less, the match was pretty good with the match going back and forth. Ultimately, CM Punk came out victorious. CM Punk I think, should be put on smackdown!

Now, it’s time for Shawn Michaels and Randy Orton. That match was as brutal and ugly as any I’ve seen in a long time. Of course Randy Orton picked up the win in a heartbeat, but the story there was the aftermath- Shawn concussed and out. His wife even appeared to comfort him. Ugly sight. One of the best matches there, was the match between Edge and Batista. Edge of course was the underdog because Batista had the strength and size advantage. During the match, Batista overpowered Edge on several occasions. But, in wrestling it’s not alway’s the strongest one who win’s, it’s the smartest, and that is exactly what Edge was. The finish saw Batista spinebuster Edge, but due to a bad knee, Batista was unable to follow up, allowing Edge to roll up Batista for the 1-2-3! Your winner and still champ Edge. He has to be one of the smartest champions ever.

The final match of the night featured John Cena against The Great Khali. Throughout the match John Cena was continually dominated by the Giant. The finish saw Cena STFU his way to a victory. It was a pretty good match. Some other matches that were featured were Chris Benoit against MVP, The Hardy’s against Cade/Murdoch. Both matches were pretty good, and for MVP rewarding since he became the new United States Champion. It also marks Chris Benoit’s final PPV! In all it was one of the best PPV’s in a long time.
