Jammu, June 23 (Scoop News)-Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah Sunday said that reformers and religious scholars have always sought salvage of human beings from all evils and sins to create a society embedded with high principals of humanism, love and brotherhood.
“All religions want to inculcate and nurture the spirit of humanism in mankind”, he said adding that the great preachers and scholars of different faiths have always worked to develop a society where human beings live in an atmosphere of love and peace.
Addressing a congregation of devotees of Sant Kabir on the occasion of Kabir Jayanti here this afternoon, the Chief Minister referred to the endeavour of Sant Kabir to reform people and make them true human beings.
Omar Abdullah said that Sant Kabir in his simple and straight artistic expressions narrated the high values of humanities and truthfulness and stressed on the need to peep into once own-self to find personal faults and short comings rather than looking towards others to find wrongs in them.
“If all of us would look for our own short comings and correct these without searching faults in others, we could give rise to a healthy society”, Omar Abdullah said adding that Sant Kabir’s teachings for unity of all human beings and creeds and his equal love for the followers of all faiths has made him adorable, respectful and loveable for all.
The Chief Minister also presented resume of the life and teachings of Sant Kabir and enumerated his endeavours to reform mankind and create a society free from hatred and evils.
The Chief Minister said that his government is committed to the equitable and inclusive development of all sections of the society and assured Kabir Samaj that the memorandum of demands presented by their leaders on the occasion would be given due consideration. He said, he would ask the Planning Minister to look into the demand of the Samaj regarding the construction of Community Hall and find out possibilities of helping its early completion.
The Chief Minister said that his government has declared Kabir Jayanti a Restricted Holiday and accepted the cherished desire of Kabir Samaj which was advocated by it during the tenure of various governments. “My government has declared Kabir Jayanti a Restricted Holiday and your demand to declare it a Gazetted Holiday would also be given due consideration”, he said.
On his arrival, thousands of devotees of Sant Kabir and their leaders welcomed the Chief Minister and clad him with traditional turban raising slogans in his favour and for his success and good health.
Minister for Planning and Development, Ajay Sadhotra and Legislator and Provincial President NC Jammu, Devender Singh Rana who was Chief Guest on the occasion also spoke to the gathering.
