Jammu, March 15 (Scoop News) – Today at a Board meeting of a Special Olympics Bharat J&K, Y. V Sharma was given warm farewell after servicing Chairman of the Board for 2009-10. Earlier Ram Sahai President of Chambers of Commerce was the Chairman of Special Olympics Bharat J&K. Both of them have rendered valuable services to serve the suffering humanity and providing help to the physical challenged persons. This organisation which is headed by Ex. Air Marshall (Retd.) Denzin Kellor has been working in all parts of State for organising special tournaments in which physically challenged persons are participating.
The Board today unanimously decided and elected in one voice Kh. Farooq Renzushah to be its Chairman and a special function organised in Chamber of Commerce building. The Board members of Special Olympics gave warm farewell to Y. V. Sharma who will now work as Chief Advisor of the Organization while a special reception was accorded to Kh. Farooq Renzushah on taking over as the Chairman.
Special Olympics is a worldwide organisation founded by s. Eunice Shriver Kennedy sister of former President of USA John F. Kennedy. The special Olympic programme is officially recognized by the International Olympics Committee and is operative in over 180 countries to provide year round sports training and organise athletic competitions in variety of Olympic type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities giving them continuous opportunities, develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage experience joy and participate in sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families and communities.
State President SOB Dr. Ashvini Jojra, in his address said that SOB movement in the State flourished under the patronage of Minister for Youth Services and Sports R. S. Chib, under the Chairmanship of Y. V. Sharma and now in future SOB movement shall achieve new heights under the Chairmanship of Kh. Farooq Renzushah in the State under the blessings of national Chairman SOB Air Marshall (Retd.) Denzin Kellor and National Director SOB S. Ali Kazim.
