I wonder sometimes about the intelligence of certain members of Congress who have made the decision that arming Syrian rebels to fight ISIL (“The Islamic State” aka: “The Islamic State of Iraq and Syria”) is a good idea?
I have literally been monitoring hundreds of reports of so called “moderate” Islamic Syrian rebels committing ghastly and horrific crimes, including beheadings and genocide in Syria. More disturbing perhaps are reports that many of these moderate Syrian rebels are working in league with ISIL.
So I was flabbergasted when I received a copy of Congressman Thornberry’s statement of support for arming the Syrian rebels to fight ISIL from a staffer on the Hill who was very concerned that some members of the House of Representatives have not done their homework on the issue of whether or not to arm rebels in Syria.
The statement read as follows:
Congressman Mac Thornberry, Vice Chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, made the following statement on the McKeon Amendment, authorizing the U.S. to train and equip Syrians to fight ISIL:
“The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) presents a significant danger to the United States, our friends, and allies. They are the best-equipped, best-trained, and best-funded terrorist organization we have faced. In addition, they have thousands of fighters with Western passports who can easily travel to the U.S. and Europe.
“This threat will not be eliminated solely from the air; it will require competent ground forces to defeat it. Allowing the military to train Syrians to be part of that ground force makes sense. The McKeon Amendment also places clear restrictions on the Administration’s authority, is time-limited, and strengthens Congress’s oversight by requiring detailed progress reports and stringent vetting of Syrian forces for training.
“Of course, training Syrians is only one part of what must be a larger strategy. The responsibility rests with the President as Commander-in-Chief to implement that strategy, gather allies in the effort, and see that it works to protect the vital security interests of the United States.”

Congressman Thornberry serves on the Armed Services Committee. He is the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Intelligence, Emerging Threats and Capabilities, which is responsible for overseeing counter-terrorism programs and initiatives and counter proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. As such you would think he would know better than supporting terrorism?
We tried to contact Rep. Thornberry to question him on his logic of wanting to support terrorism in Syria. His staff however considered our queries to be offensive and refused to answer many of our questions. They also refused to engage in conversation that might indicate the Congressman could be wrong on this issue.
It seems that possibility is something they cannot or will not even entertain.
Case in point the vicious beheading of a Franciscan priest Francois Murad, according to LiveLeak.com. Which later said in respect to the graphic video it posted on its website: “This item has been deleted because of a possible violation of our terms of service!”
Oops my mistake.
The Syrian rebels didn’t behead Father Francois – they just shot him 8 times… This is your tax dollars hard at work America. Thank you Congressman Thornberry for helping to create and foster a situation of support for murders in Syria killing people in the name of religion.

It bothers me that people are so arrogant in their position on some issues they refuse to consider that they might be wrong? In this case I wonder how many more people have to die before the Congressman changes his mind>

Well he should know after all we helped train ISIL in secret camps in Jordan:
