Reports Suggest Apple Set to Launch iPhone 5E in March

According to a report on a Chinese tech news website released on Jan-11-16, the Apple iPhone 5E will launch in March.

While Apple fans are still awaiting an official announcement, reports from several sources suggest that the company is all set to launch their next iPhone early this year. Earlier it was speculated that the next model would be named the iPhone 6C, and there were even some scattered rumors about Apple going with the name 7C. However, a Chinese expert has recently suggested that the new model would be called the iPhone 5E. All throughout last year reports originated from several sources that Apple is going to launch a new 4-inch iPhone in 2016. Even though Apple is yet to confirm these rumors, experts predict that the new phone will be launched sometime in March this year. According to GSM Arena, the new 5E is going to be an upgraded version of the iPhone 5C, which was launched September 2013. According to this unnamed Chinese analyst, the letter ‘E’ stands for ‘enhanced’ and the new phone may be priced in the range of $450 to 500.

Unlike its predecessor, the 5C, the new Apple iPhone is most likely going to ditch the polycarbonate outer shell for a more appealing and durable metal casing. According to the Chinese source, the phone is going to be fitted with an 8megapixel rear camera. It also gets a hardware update and is most likely going to be powered by the A8 chip and will sport a 1GB RAM. The display size of the 5E is going to be the same 4inch that was seen in the iPhone 5C. However, the phone is going to support Apple Pay, VoLTE, and NFC, which were missing in the 5C. Although pretty straightforward right now, there’s a good chance Apple is going to add new security features and make iPhone unlocking much more difficult.

According to a Cultofmac.com report, Apple’s decision to go ahead with the launching of smaller 4-inch iPhone in a market that seems to be dominated by 5 and 5.5-inch smartphone models is backed up by good reason. The cheaper price point will aid the iPhone 5E to penetrate the competitive Chinese and Indian markets and, in turn, create a wider base for Apple Pay.
