RESTRAINT
(Eleuterio’s poem # 3)
by Marciano Paroy Jr.
Like a sudden summer rain
you dropped into my world,
threat’ning to sooth away each dry corner;
But I am hesitant
to open up
and fully let you in,
my fears enveloping me again;
So I remain stiff
and only think of you
as a mere intrusion
into this emptiness;
one, whose hold on me
will eventually weaken;
So I wait
for what happens next.
