Review of Frisky Dingo

After seeing a few episodes of "Frisky Dingo" I couldn’t help but keep laughing. It seems to be a fresh approach to a cartoon series to be aired on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Block. It would seem that Xander Crews might be the protagonist of the series, but he’s not. Which is pretty funny. The protagonist is actually a supervillain with morals named Killface. He’s supposed to be a maniacal supervillain that wants to destroy the earth by launching it into the sun.

He spent all of his money building the Annihilatrix that will do just the trick. Unfortunately, he had no money left for the important part which is marketing. The marketing part is when Killface makes his intentions known to the world that he’s going to set off this device and destroy the world. But he doesn’t have enough money for to do that which makes it pretty funny. In a sense, he’s like a more serious Dr. Evil. Anybody familiar with Austin Powers should know who Dr. Evil is.

Killface is a parody of a supervillain. In a sense, he seems to make a better hero. He’s very much interested in the lives of his family and his underlings as long as they don’t anger him. Basically, Killface has pretty much un-villainlike qualities to his character which makes it funny. Yet, he still walks the path of being a supervillain.

Xander Crews who is Awesome X is the complete opposite. He’s a parody of a superhero and lacks many of their qualities. The guy has very unheroic qualities and is pretty much a lazy bum who doesn’t feel like running his business. He enjoys being Awesome X not because he’s doing good for the world but because it gives him an excuse not to work.

Overall, he comes off as a jerk. He can tend to be more villainous than Killface. Xander’s also a spoiled little brat that owns the company simply because he inherited it from his dead parents. Instead of learning the way of the business, Xander just acts like a playboy. He treats his girlfriend Grace Ryan like dirt. At the same time, Killface treats Grace way better.

The funny part is that he leads the Xtacles a team of cyborg super soldiers. They have no idea that Xander Crews and Awesome X are one n the same. The soldiers are maintained at five-million a year. The funny part is that they’re cyborgs, they actually have families and retirement options. Another thing that got me laughing hard was that Awesome X doesn’t have any abilities except to control the Xtacles. Xander has no superhuman powers nor an adept mind. In short, it’s revealed that Awesome X isn’t that awesome afterall.

I found the Xtacles to be the funniest because of Ronnie. He’s the only openly gay member of the Xtacles. The erotic fixation on Xander Crews which was revealed throughout the first season had me laughing. That was just funny right there.

Overall, Frisky Dingo is a funny animated TV show. The story begins in the funniest way, Xander hears about Killface wanting to destroy the world. Instead of trying to stop him, Xander wants Killface to help him fabricate a feud to generate millions by sales of Awesome-X and Killface merchandise.

It’s a great show, season 2 started August 26, 2007. If you want some good laughs, watch this show.
