Rhonda Roland Shearer is an artist living in New York City. Then why is she upset about a legal hunting trip that took place in Alabama in which an 11-year-old boy bagged a 1,050 pound, nine foot long hog?
Rhonda Roland Shearer claims that father and son Jamison and Mike Stone of Carrollton, AL are guilty of animal cruelty because, she claims, it took 12 bullets and three hours for the huge hog to die. Even though county and federal attorneys already ruled that the Stone’s did not break any laws in taking down the monster hog, Rhonda Roland Shearer’s campaign has garnered support from over 800 petitioners.
The groups petition seeks the arrest of Jamison and Mike Stone for cruelty to animals. The stones are being harassed by strangers who think their hunting trip was amoral. "You should see some of the e-mails and hear some of the calls we have received," Mike Stone said. "They are explicit. They tell how they are going to kill my son, like cutting his head off."
After the courts ruled that the Stones did not break any laws when they killed this record-breaking hog, Rhonda Roland Shearer said efforts to prosecute the hunters has "probably reached a dead end."
