JAMMU, 16.02.2012: Rich tributes were paid to veteran Gujjar Scholar and renowned social reformer, Babu Faiz Ahmed on his 2nd death anniversary today.
In this connection, a day long grand function was organized by Jammu Kashmir Tribal United Forum (TUF), in which a large number of members of Gujjar and Bakerwal community including office bearers of Forum, prominent personalities, officers of the tribal communities and various other dignitaries paid their rich tribute to Babu Faiz.
Speaking on the occasion, Roshan Din Choudhary, president of the Tribal United Forum (TUF), recalled the significant contribution of Babu Faiz Ahmed in educational and social reformation in the twin district of Rajouri and Poonch in general and Gujjar & Bakerwal and other downtrodden communities in particular. Praising the head and heart qualities of Babu Faiz, he further said that he had been instrumental in changing the level of education of the people of these two districts and the real tribute to this staunch social reformer would be to work on his ideology & principles.
Dr. Zabeer Ahmed Bajjar, general secretary of TUF while paying homage to late Babu Faiz described him a great visionary who took many steps for upliftment of the poor and downtrodden people. “His great affection for Gujjar community & Gojri culture and his contribution to their social and educational upliftment would be remembered throughout” Said Dr. Bajjar.
Advocate Khalid Mustafa Bhatti, while addressing the gathering said that Late Babu Faiz, a legendary reformer, struggled hard for the socio-economic development and the education for the children of deprived sections was his cherished dream.
Those who paid respect to the departed soul included Er. Shah Mohd., Advocate Pervaiz Choudhary, Tanzir Khatana, Zaffer Choudhary, Tanwir Ahmed, Khursheed-Ul-Islam, Shafiq Choudhary, Qayoom Choudhary and a number of other senior citizens and Gujjar leaders and social activists.
The programme was concluded with ‘Fateh Khawani (special prayer)’ offered by TUF members. The proceedings were conducted by Master Shafeeq Ahmed.
