Two weeks after Africa Day’s celebration, the first edition of the New-York Forum Africa, will be launched in Gabon’s capital Libreville on June 8-10. A forum focused on Africa’s growth and its role for the world’s economy.
During this event host by Richard Attias & Associates, an organization which also organized the New-York Forum (the last edition was held on May 22), a large range of participants, coming from Africa and all over the world, will participate to open conferences, debates and workshops.
Political leaders, NGO member, academics, private sector representatives or journalists won’t be expected to pronounce beautiful speeches, but to think about pragmatic actions for Africa, and to be more accurate, for Africa’s economy.
Despite terrible burdens like poverty, political instability and wealth gap, the continent’s growth is regarded as an extraordinary chance for Africa.
Africa’s growth is even one the strongest regional growth in the world (overall growth for 2012 should be at the rate of 12%), thanks to tremendous human and natural resources.
For Richard Attias “the continent will at the center of the twenty-first century’s world growth”. But this huge potential has to face challenges and issues before Africa could become one of the driving force of the world’s economy.
The New-York Forum’s founder thinks that “developing innovative and sustainable African socio-economic models” is essential for Africa to overcome its difficulties. The first New-York Forum Africa in Libreville should be of great opportunity for that.
