Riquelme Will Stay With Boca

Boca Juniors will announce tomorrow that their Copa Libertadores hero will remain with them.

What a difference a week makes. Club president and Buenos Aires mayor-elect Mauricio Macri was mentioning that the return of the player would be ¨impossible¨. Now there is a new tune being played at Casa Amarilla. Boca Juniors will announce in the next few days that their star player will remain with the club until December.

Villarreal has not received any important offers from any other European club, so the possibility of having Riquelme remain in Argentina becomes higher with each passing day. Boca and Villarreal representatives met in Paris and the prospects seem good for the Argentine international to remain in La Ribera for at least another season. According to Argentine daily El Clarín, Riquelme will be with Boca in the next few days.

Riquelme´s continuity with the club was of high priority as they want to go with the strongest possible squad to Tokyo as they will take part in the World Club Cup. The possibility is strong that Boca could once again face off against AC Milan in the final in a rematch of the 2003 Intercontinental Cup.

Riquelme arrived in February on loan. During this time helped Boca come in second place in the Clausura, but more importantly lead them to their sixth Copa Libertadores triumph.
