Rishi concept in Kashmir has a personality of its own: VC KU

Srinagar,February 02 (Scoop News) – . Asserting with pride that Sheikul Alam is the reference point for every inhabitant in Kashmir , Vice-Chancellor, university of Kashmir,Prof. Riyaz Punjab said  that Rishi movement is an indigenous concept and it has a personality of its own.

 Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Riyaz Punjabi was addressing in a day long  symposium  on the theme “ Sheikul Alam the symbol of Kashmir Ethos “organized  by Markaz-i Noor, Shaikh-ul Alam Chair university of Kashmir in collaboration with Door Darshan Kendra Srinagar .

Vice Chancellor Kashmir University Prof Riyaz Punjabi  and Dr Rafeeq Massodi sation director DDK were the  chief guests  at the event organized in the auditorium of the Door Darshan Kendra Srinagar and attended by a  large number of people including reputed writers, intellectuals, and academicians  from  various educational  institutions attended the function.

Prof. Riyaz Punjabi in his presidential address said that he is quite keen to see that the Chair flourishes  by way of  producing standard research works on Shaikh-ul Alam   which could attract and satisfy the intelligentsia and also popularize the message of Alamdar-iKashmir among the common masses. VC said that the real tribute  to shiek will be to carry out studies at scholarly level on  his  life and works, render his works in other languages, to bring  to the fore  the spiritual element  of his philosophy which is at the core of Rishi philosophy and using school curriculum to spread the message of Alamdar every where.

While discussing the different facets of the multidimensional personality of Shaikh-ul Alam and his  contribution to Kashmir society Director Markazi Noor , Kashmir University, Prof.  Bashaer Bashir Said  said that Alamdar-i Kashmir is a true symbol of  Kashmir ethos which we can boast upon. He highlighted as well the recent initiatives  taken by his Markaz to make the chair vibrant. 

Dr Aziz Hajni ,from  Markazi Noor Sheikul Alam Chair  said that people have   developed quite many expectations with the Shaikh-ul Alam Chair  of Kashmir University and he  hoped  that after taking the different sources into account  Markaz would  bring out the authentic text of the Poetry of Shaikh-ul Alam. . Since every Shuluk of Shaikh-ul Alam’s Poetry is  an organic poetic unity and as such no single phrase or a line should be discussed out of its context cautioned Dr Hajni. Dr Hajni who is also the coordinator of the seminars  at the Markazi Noor was all praise for the participants of the symposium for what he termed as their brilliant presentations. Dr aziz also conducted the proceedings of the programme which will be telecast on Door Dardshan as well. .+

Dr Iqbal Qureshi,Hasba ,Dr Shahzada Saleem , Dr Rafeeq Shabnam ,Dr Mohammad Altaf, Mr Bukhari, and Masood Ahmad presented their research  papers  on the  theme.
