The village Borra, well known for its cave, lives about 12km from Anantagiri and 90 km from Vishakhapatnam. Near the village, a stream disappears suddenly into a low limestone hill, courses through a chain of limestone caves full of excellent specimens of stalagmites and stalactites and eventually reappears, 300 ft lower down, in a deep gorge. On the way to the caves, one comes across a number of mica mines.
Mukhalingam (ancient Kalingara) is a well-known place of pilgrimage in Parakimedi taluk. It stands on the left bank of the Vamsadhara, from where one gets a fine view of the Eastern Ghats. Numerous antiquities are scattered in the village and along the two-mile path to Nagariakatam.
The most important and oldest temple here is that of Mukhalingesvara which is curved and surmounted by a heavy amalaka dome. The sculptures on the outer wall, such as the Mahishasuramardini and the Nataraja, are exceptionally fine. The temple may be dated to the second half of AD 8th century. The other temples, which are of lesser importance, are the Somesvara and the Bhimesvara.
The monuments of Sailhundam, picturesquely situated on top of the hill overlooking the Vamsadhara, form an imposing landmark. On the top of the hill is a gateway leading to a rubble paved ramp, at the end of which is a circular sanctuary. On either side of the ramp are situated sanctuaries, Stupas and pillared Mandapa. Among these, the two apsidal sanctuaries near the gate standout conspicuously because of their imposing structures. They have stupas and images of the Buddha. The most important monument is the circular Stupa sanctuary with an oblong porch in the front.
