Jammu and Kashmir was famous for its scenic beauty then it was world wide known as disturbed state for the last twenty years due to arms insurgency. Now unprecedented accidents on roads across the state have added another feather to state’s legacy. Despite tireless efforts by government in widening roads, providing new buses and ensuring coordination between various government departments for making smooth traveling on the roads, nothing have changed yet.

According to police reports as many as 20 people died in accidents at different places and several injured. In an accident at Doda district, four people died and were identified as Vipin Lal, his wife Feeno Devi, and their seven-day-old baby and driver Yassir Hamid. Two critically injured have been identified as Namberdar Fakir Chand and Monika Devi.
Police said that a Tata Sumo JK19-2095 on way to Shahdra Sharief shrine from Gool skidded off the road and rolled down into a nearly 500-ft deep gorge at Dhamni area in Reasi district this afternoon. 11 persons including two women and a boy were killed and three children were injured in the mishap, they informed. Five of deceased have been identified as Mohammad Iqbal, Abdul Aziz, Shamim Ahmad, Ghulam Mohammad and driver Manzoor Ahmad. Injured have been shifted to government medical college here, they said.
