Robbery of a Large Amount of Money from One of America’s Mega-Churches

It’s hard to believe anyone could have the audacity to rob a church especially one of America’s Biggest Mega-Church’s? I don’t know about other people but it hurts my soul to know someone cracked open the safe at Joel Osteen’s Lakewood Church in Houston, and made off with $600,000 in donations.

The huge heist is a cause for disgust and anguish that anyone could steal from a holy place, the church. People know that banks, homes and other businesses are often robbed but they never think it will happen to a church especially one as large as Joel Osteen’s Mega-Church. It’s sad when people stoop low enough to heist a church on the Sabbath…this causes tears for many and feelings of sadness.

Joel Osteen visits my home every Sunday via the television and I respect his teachings and his love for God. He is a dedicated person who draws an attendance of 40,000 in attendance every week; and more than 140 countries have people watching his services every week. Osteen loves his congregation and is a dedicated servant of God and them.

Houston police say, “They stole $400,000 in checks and $200,000 in cold hard cash which had been gathered in the collection plates. This money, a single weekend collection, was placed into the safe after the Sunday services and it was stolen. Could this have been an inside job? Could the safe have been accidently left open? Was someone lying in wait and taking all the information in to pounce on a large cache?

In my opinion this would have had to be an individual who was knowledgeable about the safe transactions from possibly observing or actually working with the collection plates. It’s sad when a church cannot trust those who donate of their time and efforts to the church…but, Christians have trust in other Christians and never question their actions.

Many of the donation envelopes had people’s credit card numbers written on them as they were placed into collection plates; and Osteen warned members to watch their accounts. The mega-church will survive and be okay because the money is insured but let’s all pray that the criminal is caught and serves time for the offense committed.
