Rocking Robbers Steal Electric Guitars from Church

St Mark’s Church in Butterworth (Penang) was broken into yesterday by thieves who took off with three electric guitars, a safe containing RM500, a few cheques, a marriage registration book and various other documents. Total losses were estimated to be about RM3000.

This was the second burglary the church has suffered, the first occured in January last year.

The parish priest believes the burglars-at least 2 or 3 of them must have worked together as the safe was too heavy for one person to cart away, broke into the church’s office where the safe was kept between 4.30am and 5am.

He also said that the burglars proceeded into the church proper in the next building where they procured the guitars. The church’s security guard had seen four to five men on the premises around 5am but says they had ran as soon as they saw him.

A police report has been lodged and the incident is being investigated.
