Roig To Announce Riquelme Future Tomorrow

A season’s worth of doubts and displeasure should come to an end when Villarreal president Fernando Roig announces what is to be done with their disgruntled star Juan Román Riquelme.

The Argentine international has been at odds with the coaching staff and administrative brass after returning from the World Cup last season. He paid dearly for his actions, being permanently removed from Manuel Pellegrini’s plans. At the same time his stock soared during his return stint to Boca Juniors where he led them to their sixth Copa Libertadores trophy and Argentina to a second place finish in the Copa América.

Very few buyers came to the forefront in Europe, one that constantly remained, regardless of how much of a longshot it was was Atlético Madrid. according to sources, Aleti would be willing to pay the 11 million euro pricetag that the Argentine international has as their troubles creating offense is evident. It would also be the reunion of him with Diego Forlán- a duo that frightened all of Europe in their days with the Yellow Submarine.

But Boca remains the wild card in this situation. The Xeneizes would like to have Riquelme back for another six-month loan, and hopefully to travel with them to Japan for the World Club Cup. The player’s heart is with the Argentine side as he is looked upon almost at par with Diego Maradona. But based on the conditions made by his present club, it looks like the player will be in Madrid continuing his battle to return to the club he so dearly loves.

Besides sports both at the local level and internationally, I will be covering the Super Tuesday proceedings in Connecticut, which suddenly turned into a swing state here in New England. So check me out here as well as in my blog.
