To start things off, Ron Paul walked into Peg’s Glorified Ham and Eggs located in downtown Reno on Monday. Supporters applauded Ron Paul when he had arrived at the restaurant.
University of Nevada – Reno (UNR) graduate, Trevor Weaver immediately jumped up from his meal when Ron Paul wanted to shake his hand.
“It was a surprise,” he said. Weaver adds: “It’s nice that he comes out to the local places. He doesn’t go to the big chains.”
Ron Paul so far is the only Republican candidate to visit UNR for this election cycle. He stopped at the diner as part of the campaign in Nevada before the caucus to take place on Saturday, January 19.
He explains that he expects college students to show up at the Nevada caucuses on Saturday. Ron Paul even has a student club at UNR called the Ron Paul Pack which is deemed the largest student club for any Republican candidate. This is the only candidate group that is recognized by the student government.
“(College support is) one thing that we’ve been working on real hard and that’s one thing that will make a difference if they do come,” Ron Paul explained.
Paul said that he stopped at Peg’s to get lunch in order to reach out to the undecided voters and the general public to boost their enthusiasm.
