Freedom within the limits of law and constitution in presence of independent judiciary and just laws endures forever; anarchy paves the way for slavery, lawlessness cripples the weak and might is right phenomena dominates the scene. Pakistan’s almost 57 years of experience with anarchy in the disguise of democracy and military rule has established might is right phenomena in our society, disrespect for law and constitution of the land, little rather no respect for property rights of the citizens and no respect for the right of life and other fundamental rights of the citizens are the main glittering features of our society now.
During the rule of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir process of Islamisation was initiated at his will in united India, emperor Aurangzeb was against music which is part of Indian culture, during his rule musicians had literally carried out funeral of music as mark of protest, in independent Pakistan Taliban movement is an effort to revive the steps taken by emperor Aurangzeb, the movement is not confined in Mullah, bureaucracy in Pakistan is also Talibanised, disrespect for higher qualification, and their love for quacks is quite evident from the fact that in top ranking KDA hospital of Kohat a Hakeem(quack) is employed in officer cadre and a huge office for him is arranged in the hospital.
Last week in Islamabad I had discussed the plight of highly educated correspondents of Associated Press of Pakistan including myself with Director News Mr. Javed Akhter, when I told him that it is against the federal laws to employee Master degree holders at less the 100$ a month and it becomes quite embarrassing for them to work on such low wages and humiliating terms and conditions in a government organization, he appeared determined to pursue his humiliating agenda, and came up with the suggestion that a telephone call in favor of correspondent from any elected member of national assembly can result in increase of the salary of correspondent, there is no other way out.
Interestingly Associated Press of Pakistan is the only organization which issues warning letters to its low paid and highly qualified correspondents in case of better performance on their behalf, the type of economic persecution and mental torcher in shape of warning letters which Associated Press of Pakistan management inflict on its correspondents is cognizable offence, and is tantamount to conspiracy against the educated few.
Our able information minister Ms Sheri Rehman most often claims freedom of press in Pakistan as her primary objective, Associated Press of Pakistan as government organization right under her cute nose is inflicting torcher and economic persecution of journalists working as correspondents for APP, she is the ultimate boss of APP during her tenure as minister information, I wonder whether she will probe into this affair.
