Srinagar, September 26 (Scoop News)- Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the government would be providing funds to each Panchayat additionally for undertaking developmental activities in their respective areas.
The Minister was interacting with the deputation of Panches and Sarpanches from Banihal area led by Sajjad Shaheen.
Sagar said that the Chief Minister has already taken up the issue of providing an additional amount of Rs. 10 lakh each and every Panchayat for developmental works with the Union Ministry of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. He said that the same would ensure accelerated development of different Panchayats in the state.
The Minister further informed the deputation that government has already constituted a grievance redressal cell within the department which would provide the much needed feedback about the implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes and also redress the complaints if any. He said that the same would also ensure transparency and accountability in the functioning and implementation of the programmes by the department.
Sagar further maintained that necessary instructions have been passed to the officers to involve Panches and Sarpanches in the implementation of various schemes and appropriate action would be initiated against the officials showing laxity in this regard.
The deputation while appreciating the recent step of the government of providing honorarium to the Panchayati Raj Representatives said that it was due to the tireless efforts of the government that MGNREGA and other schemes have registered a phenomenal increase in implementation which has resulted in the improvement of socio-economic profile of people living in rural and far-flung areas.
