Rs.59 crore for Nagar Project, Rs.7 crore for renovation of Jamia Masjid

Srinagar, March 13 (Scoop News) – Rs. 59 crore would be spent on the execution of Nagarnagar project during the next financial year as a part of protection of historical placers of the Srinagar city.

This was stated by the Minister for Rural Development and Parliamentary Affairs,  Ali Mohammad Sagar today while addressing at a function after launching a plantation drive at Hariparbat hills organised by the Urban Forestry Division and National Society for Protection of Water Reservoirs Wetland in collaboration with Forest Department Srinagar.

The Minister said that this step would help maintain environment balance in Srinagar city. He stressed upon the Forest Officers to plant more and more saplings on the hills of Khohimaran and adjacent Malakah area. He further said a rope-way would be constructed on the hills of Hariarabt on which Rs.6 crore would be incurred.

Mr Sagar said that the Srinagar City is a place of Auli Kiram and Sofies and said we should follow the teachings of these highly spiritual personalities. On this occasion, he was informed that during the current plantation drive nearabout 1.9 lakh plants would be planted on the different places in peripheries of Srinagar city by Urban Forestry Division department upto ending March, 2011.

Chief Conservator, Forest Kashmir,  Manzoor Ahmed Khan, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar,  M. A. Kakroo, Regional Director Polution Control Board,  Farooq Geelani, DFO, Srinagar (Urban) and a large number of School children also highlighted the merits of the plantation for the protection of the environment of the Srinagar City.
