Kulgam/Srinagar, June 14 (Scoop News) – Rs 84.82 crore has been approved under District plan allocation for District Kulgam for the year 2012-13. The plan was approved today at District Development Board meeting held at Kulgam under the Chairmanship of Minister for Forests and Environment Mian Altaf Ahmed who is the chairman of District Development Board Kulgam.
While giving the brief resume of the achievements made under last year’s plan, the District Development Commissioner, Kulgam Jehangir Mir informed the meeting that against an availability of Rs 88.59 crore, an expenditure of Rs 88.39 crore was booked up to ending March 2012 which is 99.77 percent of the total allocation spent on various developmental and welfare schemes. It was also told that under R&B sector road length of 32.30 kms were blacktopped, 57.90 kms were made roadworthy, 101 culverts, pipe culvers with Rs 16.52 crore, were constructed during the last year. 8 schemes stand completed in the above sector. Under PHE sector 5 schemes were completed and drinking were facilities provided to 3475 souls.
The District Development Commissioner, Kulgam told the meeting that during the current financial year Rs 11.90 crore, under R&B sector, Rs 4.79 crore for PHE, Rs 11.76 crore for Irrigation, Rs 3.62 crore for rural development, Rs 1.90 crore for healthcare, Rs 3.75 crore for education and Rs 2.86 crore for social welfare under nutrition have been projected for 2012-13.
The target of 42 kms will be blacktopped, 32 culverts will be constructed and earth work of 11.03 kms will be completed besides 13 schemes are proposed to be completed under R&B sector. Similarly, under PHE sector 3 schemes are proposed to be completed besides 22 habitations having a population of 23531 souls will be covered under drinking water facilities. Under education sector, (SSA scheme) 51 primary schools, 9 middle schools and 350 additional classrooms will be completed during current financial year.
The Chairman stressed upon the officers to work with close coordination and have the targets achieved in full. He stressed for ensuring the implementation of central/state sponsored schemes in letter and spirit for the welfare of the people and asked to make judicious use of funds.
The Minister for Social Welfare and MLA Noorabad Ms Sakina Itoo, MP Anantnag Dr. Mehboob Beig, Deputy Speaker and MLA Devsar Sartaj Madni, MLA Kulgm M. Y. Tarigami, MLA Homeshaliabugh Abdul Gaffar Sofi, heads of departments, Chief Engineers and all sectoral officers were present in the meeting.
