Rural women getting empowered

 It is happening like a dream.100 women  from Dedza in Central Malawi have received  goats, pigs and chicken to help them get milk, eggs as well as meat which can be sold to improve the economic life.

Small Scale Livestock Promotion Program(SSLPP) Executive Director Sute Mwakasungula told the women  to properly care for the animals saying in times of drought when there is no rain, they will be able to buy maize grain from the saved money from sales.

Kara Malawi , an Irish Women Organisation has funded the program.

SSLP is also funding men and women in all the three regions of Malawi in milk production program.

The program has seen over 100 farmers benefit from cattle whci is normall imported from Europe.
