In a documentary broadcast, highly respected FBIcounter-intelligence chief Frank Figliuzzi claimed a sexy Russian spy Anna Chapman got “close to a top level official in the Obama Administration” (see article: Russian agent Anna Chapman ‘came close to catching top Obama official in a honey trap,’ FBI counter intelligence chief claims
Figliuzzi didn’t name names, but the spy catcher indicated it prompted the decision by the FBI to move in and make an arrest before she could ensnare the official in a “honeytrap”. Miss Chapman (Anna Vasil’yevna Kushchyenko) was close to seducing a sitting member of the Obama administration, he said.
In espionage terminology, “honeypot” is one of several ways to refer to a recruitment that involves sexual seduction.
Mr Figliuzzi told the Channel 4 documentary the spy got ‘closer and closer to higher and higher ranking leadership… she got close enough to disturb us.’
VERY CONCERNED
‘We were becoming very concerned,’ he said. ‘They were getting close enough to a sitting US cabinet member that we thought we could no longer allow this to continue.’
Mr Figliuzzi did not disclose the identity of the official targeted by Miss Chapman, because to do so would be politically embarrassing to the President of the United States. It is not known if Figliuzzi feared retaliation if he just came out with the name or if he is genuinely protecting the official – who stands as sort of a national security risk at this point since he was allegedly targeted by the sexy Russian foreign intelligence agent.
It should be noted that in abc news reported, that the FBI agent did affirm a Russian female spy got close to a cabinet member but it wasn’t the beautiful auburn haired Anna Chapman, but “Cynthia Murphy” ? According to court documents relating to the spies’ arrest, Murphy had been in contact with a fundraiser and “personal friend” of Hillary Clinton, who took the office of Secretary of State in January 2009. (see article: Russian Fem Spy Spooked US, But It Wasn’t Anna Chapmanhttp://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/russian-fem-spy-cynthia-murphy-spooked-us-honeypot/story?id=16061957 ).
Was Hillary Clinton the target? We just don’t know.
MYSTERY REMAINS
How exactly the sexy spy managed to compromise the high level official remains a mystery at this point, but the fact she did is highly disturbing.

The first honeytrap in recorded history come in the Bible where the two honeypots in chief were Delilah and Judith. The latter seduced the enemy commander Holofernes and assassinated him, and Delilah seduced Samson and got him to reveal the secret of his strength – his hair, which she later cut off, rendering him vulnerable to capture.
In modern times honeypots (of both sexes) were used by both sides in the Cold War we know a lot more about the honeypot techniques of the KGB and Stasi (the East German secret police) than we do of the techniques employed by the Americans and British, who also engaged in this type of espionage and still do in some cases.
In the former Soviet Union, for instance, “swallow” was the KGB codename for women honeypots, and “raven” the term for men.
An ex-CIA officer has claimed that the West “found that offers of money and freedom worked better.” But because of human nature being what it is and the powerful emotion of sex, honeytraps remain a concern in espionage.
Cases of female honeypots entrapping men are so common that there are too many to list individually in this article. In 2006 the British Defence Attaché in Islamabad, was recalled home, after it was disclosed that he had been having an affair with a Pakistani woman, who was an intelligence agent for her government. At the time the British Government denied that any secrets were lost, although other sources maintained that several British agents working undercover in Pakistan, and several operations, were exposed.
“The revelation by the FBI chief of counter-intelligence about the targeting of a cabinet level official in the White House by Anna Chapman is most disturbing and contradicts earlier media reports that the Russian spies were bumbling idiots who were largely ineffective in what they did and said”, said Will Dupree of Charlotte, who studies espionage techniques used by foreign intelligence agencies. Dupree added that besides Russia, China also engages the use of ‘honey traps’ that target officials at the federal, state and local municipal level. Dupree stated concerns that Charlotte’s mayor Anthony Foxx was the possible target of Chinese intelligence officials when he recently visited China on a business trip and wound up staying at lavish expensive hotels, paid for by Chinese business officials, many of whom do business directly with the Chinese military or PLA(People’s Liberation Army).
Because of the nature of “honeytraps” and the obsession of the culture in America on glamour and sex, spies like Anna Chapman are famous today. Chapman was eventually traded in a spy swap that made headlines around the world. Today she is a high priced fashion model in Russia and considered a hero by people like newly elected President of Russia Vladimir Putin, himself a former KGB spy.
