Sakina stresses for hassle free distribution of pension & scholarship

Jammu, March 7 (Scoop News) – The Minister for Social Welfare Ms. Sakina Itoo today asked officers to take keen interest in ensuring that beneficiaries get the assistance without any problem. She stressed for hassle free distribution of pension, scholarship and their financial assistance being provided by the department to various categories of beneficiaries.

Minister for Social Welfare Ms. Sakina Itoo was presiding over a meeting of District Social Welfare officers of Jammu division here today.

She said that the Social Welfare department in consultation with the J&K Bank authorities have fixed 15th to 25th of every month as the days for disbursement of monthly pension being provided to beneficiaries under various schemes.

The Minister said that the new mechanism has been devised to streamline the disbursement of pension so that the beneficiaries are facilitated and get the financial assistance in a time bound manner.

Taking note of the problem regarding the beneficiaries who stop to take their pension due to certain reasons including death cases, the Minister asked the concerned officers to replace such cases with new applicants seeking pension under various schemes. She however asked the officers to properly scrutinize the new cases to avoid possibility of any foul play.

   The Minister also asked the officers to identify the widow beneficiaries having stitching/tailoring skills and explore the possibility of providing them sewing machines so that they can have a sustained earning.

The meeting was among others attended by Commissioner/secretary Social Welfare Department  Jeet Lal Gupta, Director Social Welfare  Mehmood Rana, Director, Tribal Affairs  Ali Raza, Dy. Director social welfare (P&S)Ms. Sukhleen Kour and all the district social welfare officers of Jammu division.
