Saleha Imarat Medical Center, a 12-bed hospital with modern facilities has been inaugurated today (Monday, 20 October 2008) in the village of Sankoa under Bagmara Upazilla of Rajshahi district. Mr. A H M Khairujjaman Liton, the newly elected Rajshahi City Mayor formally inaugurated the medical centre in the morning. He graced the occasion as the chief guest along with eminent eye specialist professor Sayed Modassir Ali as the special guest.
Professor Jinatunnesa Talukdar; Mr. Tajul Islam Mohammad Faruque, president, Rajshahi district Awami League; Mr. Omar Faruque Chowdhury, general secretary, Rajshahi district AL; advocate Md. Ibrahim Hossen, former joint GS of the same; Mr. Anil Kumar Sarkar, former organizing secretary; professor Malek Mehmud, former education& cultural secretary; Md. Abdus Sobhan Chowdhury, president, Bagmara Upazilla AL; Mr. Zakirul Islam Pintu, general secretary, Bagmara Upazilla AL; Mr. Md. Abdus Salam, president, Mohonpur Upazilla AL; Mr. Mafizuddin Kobiraj, general secretary, Mohonpur Upazilla AL and Mr. Nurul Islam Thandu, former VP of RACSU were present among others as guests. Eminent businessman Engineer Md. Enamul Haque, Chairman, ‘Saleha Imarat Cold Storage’, presided over the inaugural ceremony.
Considering health service for all classes of villagers, the medical center is equipped with necessary compartments from outdoor to satellite clinic eye camp. Built in nine months following its foundation stone installed, the hospital is capable of providing first aid treatment and medical consultancy to fifty thousand people a year.
