SAN FRANCISCO, November, 19th, 2013, 12:30PM EST – The bigwigs of Salesforce.com are stating we have entered the “golden age of enterprise apps.”
The AppExchange was front and center during the keynote speech this morning at DreamForce 2013.. And why not, with Salesforce posting a loss for the last quarter, the AppExchange has generated more than $1 billion in revenue to date. Vice President of ISVs and channels at Salesforce.com, Ron Huddleston, opened the keynote session by stating the next step is to help customers get from $1 billion to $10 billion. Chiming in after Keith Block, president and vice chairman of Salesforce.com, stated “obviously Salesforce has been on a great growth trajectory.” But is it enough in the long run?
Salesforce is trying to figure how to invest in industry-specific solutions. One of the biggest areas of growth has been Salesforce email integration. More and more companies are embracing email integration because Salesforce does not provide automated email syncing and logging out-of-the-box and in the cloud. This missing piece of Salesforce is a mystery because it is so obvious, it has the potential to create another revenue stream. In addition, with a cloud-based email integration platform, it works with all mobile devices and email systems. That means that all emails get logged in Salesforce!
The next year will definitely see more growth in this email integration sector, it just depends on if Salesforce will truly embrace it. We just have to wait and see.
