Samba(J&K) gets Rs 68.72cr plan for 2013-14

Samba/Jammu, July 16 (Scoop News)-The District Development Board, Samba, which met here on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, approved Rs 68.72crore annual plan 2013-14 for the district.
The annual plan included Rs 23.89 crore as revenue and Rs 44.83crore as capital component.
Members of Parliament, Choudhary Lal Singh, Madan Lal Sharma, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare and Development of SC, Swaran Lata, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare of OBC, Kuldeep Raj Sharma, Vice Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Welfare of Gujjar and Bakerwal, Bashir Ahmed Naz, MLAs S.S Slathia, Yash Paul Kundal, Durga Dass, Harsh Dev Singh, Ashwani Kumar Sharma, MLCs Master Noor Hussain, Rani Gargi Bilowria, Shehnaz Ganai, Sham Lal Bhagat besides divisional heads of various line departments were present in the meeting.
Speaking at the meeting, the Deputy Chief Minister exhorted upon the officers to put in their sincere efforts to ensure proper utilization of funds and time-bound completion of development works. He said the staff shortage in different departments in the district would be met at the earliest.
“Do not compromise on quality while achieving physical targets under different development programmes as this is pre-requisite for building a strong edifice for the generations to come” he asked the officers.
Emphasizing the significance of Panchayat Raj Institutions in development process at grass root level, the Deputy Chief Minister exhorted upon the Sarpanchs and Panchs to keenly monitor the works in their respective areas to yield tangible results under government schemes.
The District Development Board unanimously recommended inclusion of border areas in backward area category, one time compensation to refugees of 1947, 1965 and 1971 besides compensation to border people whose land has been acquired for defense purposes.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the concerned departments to prepare projects for conservation of Mansar Lake and take concrete steps to improve the requisite infrastructure and logistic facilities to promote tourism in the area. He directed the line departments to ensure that the concerned legislators are consulted at the time of plan formulation to cater to the area specific needs.
Reviewing implementation of welfare schemes, the Chairman directed the department of Social Welfare to ensure proper working of Anganwari Centres and timely distribution of nutrition for the children and lactating mothers. He also asked them to clear all the pending cases of scholarships and old age pensions.
Stressing on promotion of traditional crafts, agriculture and allied activities on modern lines, The Deputy Chief Minister asked the Employment, Handicrafts, Sports, Industries, cooperatives, Agriculture, Horticulture and other departments to implement their schemes particularly self employment programmes in an effective manner.
He stressed upon the concerned functionaries to ensure optimum utilization of funds under the schemes like PMGSY, NRHM, SGSY, DRDA, MGNREGA, RKVY, IAY,RMSA, SSA and BSUP. He directed the officers to conduct frequent visits of remote and hilly areas to monitor the development works for optimum results.
