Sarkozy Warns Rioters That They Will End Up In Court

While visiting the injured policemen, Nicolas Sarkozy had said that the shootings at police could not be tolerated. He said that it was unacceptable for the rioters to be firing at the officers. Asides from visiting the injured policemen, Sarkozy has also met with the families of the two teenagers killed when their motorcycle collided with a police car.

He had also met with key ministers in crisis talks. The talks are to come up with solutions on how to prevent the rioting that has happened for three nights from spreading to other areas of Paris. There were attacks in some parts of Paris while the violence decreased on Tuesday.

Arson attacks were concentrated on the southern city of Toulouse and some parts of Paris.

After arriving back in France, Sarkozy immediately visited the injured officers. He called firing at the officers a crime of attempted murder. Sarkozy added that those who take it into their hands to fire at officers will end up in court.

He had stressed that it’s something that cannot be tolerated regardless of how dramatic the deaths of the two teenagers were.

Relatives of the two teenagers insist the police rammed into the motorcycle. But an internal police probe found that the police were not to blame for their deaths. In addition, the police have said that the motorcycle was going at top speed and it was unregistered. They added that the two were not wearing helmets.
