Satya Nadella’s Microsoft CEO profile is very low key, though he was a VP at cloud computing at Microsoft. Despite Nadella‘s winning record so far with a strong footing in technology, the Redmond St. firm will have to up its anti and give it all its got.
In his first interviews and emails, Nadella spoke of rebounding to winning strategies and ‘believing in the impossible.’
His first video interview talked about him being an ordinary guy who has been married for 22 years and an employee of Microsoft for 42 years.
Nadella, who is Indian-born and the top executive to reach CEO status now ranks higher than previous CEOs from India.
Several reports including BBC, the Hindu, the Economic Times have exalted Nadella to stardom as media reports highlight his education in Manipal and his roots in India.
One of the challenges for Nadella will be to spin off the Nokia business just as Google sold Motorola to Lenovo after lackluster sales. The Windows phone concept is far behind the hot selling models by Apple and Google. So, for the time being, Microsoft will have to bring the company back to profitability, in the range of Apple. That will be its goal and mission in the near term.
Nadella says he is adamant on removing obstacles in the way of innovation at the company. Meanwhile, Bill Gates will step down as Chairman and assist Nadella in his transition, after rumors that Gates was no longer the favorite to fill the seat of Chairman.
Gates said he would spent 1/3 of his time helping as a technology advisor.
