CRIME BRANCH, a Bengali language bi- weekly magazine published from Calcutta, the capital city of West Bengal, is facing serious financial trouble. CRIME BRANCH is shedding staff and reducing services. But the big question is whether the magazine will bounce back.Tumbling advertisement revenues and other factors are the main reasons behind this current scenario, comments Biplab chowdhury, the Editor of the magazine. "The magazine was on the verge of shutting its doors but we somehow manage to run it. We hope that the magazine will be rescued by influx of cashes from magazine lovers or local entrepreneurs," Mr.Chowdhury said.
Here,Reporters don’t cross their ‘limit’. While covering a story, they always know how not to hurt people. They believe that attitude is involved in any kind of story."After all we should brake the notion that those of us in media are arrogant, highhanded and disrespectful. In fact,we must remember that Journalists enjoy the same kind of privileges where manners are concerned. Always treat people the way you like to be treated, " said Tapan Banarjee, a columnist for the CRIME BRANCH. The magazine always tries to be the public’s eyes and ears. But journalists in the magazine are in deep trouble. They think that they will lose their job because the magazine is in danger of closing down altogether. The editor and staff members appeal for financial help to revive the magazine.
