The topic is obvious, who would win in a fight? This is an age old question that has many people guessing when you pit characters from different titles against each other. Nothing is definite because these two characters haven’t fought against each other before. Because they appear on different mediums of entertainment along with being apart of different franchises, it’s highly realistic that these two characters would never fight against each other. But there are things that we can call “dream matches” which are fights we can fantasize about.
These types of fights are things that could keep people guessing who could possibly win. I decided to experiment with a theoretical fight. As a person that enjoys certain TV shows and definitely enjoys watching a lot of Japanese anime, I decided to have to protagonists from two different series mentioned in this article. It’s up to the readers to decide who could possibly win a theoretical match if these two characters for some reason would end up throwing down.
Recently, I had finished watching all fifty episodes of “Blood+” that spans fifty episodes. Currently, there are talks regarding the creation of a second season to this popular Japanese anime series. I had enjoyed watching most of the episodes of Blood+. Blood+ in turn has become one of my favorite Japanese anime series. It’s supposed to somewhat be a sequel to the movie “Blood: The Last Vampire.” But there were a bunch of changes that had been made.
At the same time, I happen to be a fan of the hit TV series on NBC called “Heroes.” Not only has the series helped NBC out in many ways; but, it is by far the most popular TV series across the globe at the moment. The show is very popular in many countries around the world.
I decided to pick Saya Otonashi who is the main protagonist of Blood+. She’s basically a vampire with vampiric abilities. But she is a Chiropteran which are the main enemies of Blood+. In reality, Saya is one of the two Chiropteran queens asides from her evil twin sister Diva. She is one of my most favorite characters in Japanese anime let alone Blood+. In combat she has pretty interesting abilities.
From Heroes, I decided to pick Hiro Nakamura. Asides from Peter, Hiro happens to be one of my most favorite characters in Heroes. There is something about Hiro that is very much endearing the audience. He’s very kind-hearted and believes in being a hero. Like many, Hiro is inspired by various comic books, videogames, and legends. Currently, he has met his hero, the legendary Takezo Kensei aka, the “Sword Saint.” Hiro has only one ability, putting him at a disadvantage if he ever went up against Saya from Blood+.
But before one jumps to conclusions, Hiro’s one ability proved to be incredibly invaluable. Though Saya and Hiro’s abilities contrast from each other, it would be interesting to imagine them fighting each other.
Saya’s main weapon of combat is a katana. However, this isn’t your typical type of katana. She basically places the top of her hand on the back of the katana which makes a cut over her hand. The blood seeps into the katana and seeps out from the edges, which is an effective way to fight Chiropterans and Chevaliers. The logic behind that method of combat is that Saya’s blood is the only thing that can kill these two.
In Blood+, Chiropterans are infused with a compound called “Delta 67” derived from Diva’s blood. Chevaliers are enhanced chiropterans capable of thought and rationale. Humans become chevaliers by drinking the blood of the Queens. Saya’s blood would cause them to crystallize and die.
She is shown to be very proficient with the use of the sword. In the past, Saya has gone through rigorous sword training.
Saya’s other ability includes rapid healing and regeneration. But that comes at a cost forcing Saya to feed on blood. She needs to drink blood and/or get a regular blood transfusion to remain strong and healthy. Saya has to feed after healing for very devastating injuries.
She looks to have superhuman strength, speed, and reflexes which are required to take on the Chiropterans and Chevaliers derived from Diva’s blood. Keep in mind that Saya isn’t human at all. Saya also has the ability to create Chevaliers by giving humans her blood. Chevaliers are then driven to protect Saya as a result.
Hiro Nakamura is also armed with a katana. He learned sword training from his father, Kaito Nakamura. His style of fighting varies from Saya’s. Saya’s experience revolves around European fencing. Hiro’s experience revolves around Battojutsu taught by Kaito. The two of them do know how to handle swords.
Compared to Saya’s powers, Hiro only has one: bending time/space.
Despite that being Hiro’s only power, this seems to be more than enough in terms of fighting. Hiro’s one big ability gives him three sub-abilities: time manipulation, time travel, and teleportation. That should give Saya’s superhuman speed and reflexes a run for their money.
Time manipulation allows Hiro to slow time, speed time, and/or stop time altogether. Hiro’s ability to stop time had become very valuable in saving Ando from getting killed by Sylar.
Time travel allows Hiro to travel any place in time. That part is very self-explanatory in terms of combat.
Teleportation is also self-explanatory.
Who knows who’d win in a fight if Saya Otonashi and Hiro Nakamura got into a fight. But it would be an interesting fight to think about.
It’s like superhuman speed and reflexes pitted against the ability to bend the time-space continuum. In a fight like that, who would possibly step up as the winner?
