SBOTE den of corruption

Jammu/ Kashmir

State Board of Technical Education (SBTE) has once again hunted headlines for wrong doings and misuse of power besides corruption. This time it is none other than Secretary SBOTE, Er N H Malik. Earlier, subordinate staff was being discussed for misdeeds being unabatedly carried by them in the department.
Story begins with an application by a student namely Sheikh Insha Hameed who wanted to get migration from Government Polytechnic, Ganderbal to Kashmir Government Polytechnic (KGP), Gogibagh. To which she addressed application to KGP, principal instead of Principal of Ganderbal Polytechnic College.Instead of rejecting the application and advising the student to address application to Principal Ganderbal, KGP, Principal forwarded the letter vide No: KGP/ BC/2015/2874; dated 08-01-2015,to Secretary SBOTE with recommendation for migration for obvious reason well known to them.
Commenting upon the developments, Principal Ganderbal Polytechnic College, Shaista Ji said that she has been sidelined in the entire process for unknown reasons. She said “as per norms student should have approached to me for migration but it was not done, poking of nose by Principal KGP unlawfully was questionable”. When asked as if branch can be changed after 3rd semester, she replied that as per the set norms it is not possible in any way.
Upon this, sanction letter vide No: SBOTE/15/1668 DATED: 12-01-15 with subject indicating the migration with branch change. Order reads, sanction is hereby accorded to migration from Govt Polytechnic College Gandherbal to K G Polytechnic Gogi Bagh, along with change of branch from Electrical to Civil Engg (3rd Semester) in favour of Sheikh Insha Hameed.
Question being asked is as to why the rules were thrown to wind why principal of concerned college was sidelined? This case of corruption and misuse of power for money needs to be taken seriously, would this dispensation and especially the incumbent minister take the call and develop courage to investigate and punish the guilty and corrupt officials in the above narrated story.
Meanwhile, government would also direct all the heads of the departments to ensure implementation of Right to Information (RTI) Act in letter and spirit so that maximum information could be made available on the website to minimize the need for filing RTI applications by the citizens, said sources adding that Chief Minister has made it clear to his cabinet colleagues that key posts would be given to the honest and upright officers and no one would be entrained for political connections.
