Jammu, March 21 (Scoop News) – BJP State president Shamsher Singh Manhas today alleged that there are a number of areas in Jammu city where majority of the population is of the members of scheduled caste community. These people and their areas too are subjected to discriminated and given step motherly treatment by the state government.
BJP State president Shamsher Singh while addressing a public gathering in Pacca Talab, Ward No. 17 locality of Jammu West Assembly Constituency under party’s “Jan Sammelan” being organised throughout Jammu city in view of the forthcoming municipal elections.
The programme was organized by Ex-corporator of the ward Balwan Singh.
BJP State president said that like other sections of the society and communities, the SCs in Jammu too have resentment against the NC-Congress coalition as benefits of various centrally-sponsored schemes launched for their welfare and upliftment do not reach the real deserving families. The scholarships for the poor SC students are sanctioned but not released in time. The developmental works to be undertaken in the SC bastis under special schemes are also seen lingering for lack of will and approval by the concerned authorities. He said that the BJP has been raising the voice of SCs and other weaker sections at all the forums. He advised the people not to get misled by the false slogans of NC and Congress in the forthcoming municipal elections and elect BJP candidates so that their areas are developed on priority.
He said that attempts are being made to weaken the nationalist forces in the state but our great Dogra have always failed these designs by even sacrificing their lives. The Dogras have a history of supreme sacrifices and stressed that unity among the Jammuites has become all the more important as the Kashmir-centric parties like NC and PDP have been working to appease the separatists while Congress has not uttered even a single word against the policies and ideology of these parties. He said that the coming JMC elections are of great significance as the people will once again get an opportunity to teach these parties a lesson and return BJP candidates with thumping majority.
State General Secretary Sat Sharma (C.A.) said that the biggest achievement of the present NC-Congress coalition government has been the total neglect of SCs and promoting corrupt elements in the state. He said that the present government feels pride in booking patwaris, JEs and other low ranking officials but do not feel shame for shielding top ministers, MLAs and bureaucrats involved in land grabbing, looting public exchequer and promoting nepotism by throwing all norms to wind.
JMC former Mayor Kavinder Gupta, in his address highlighted the achievements of the Jammu Municipal Corporation during his tenure as Mayor. He said that it always remained in his mind that the areas in city which have the population of SCs need special attention as they remained ignored by the government in all maters and in all spheres. He declared that the BJP will once again win the Corporation with majority and provide a people-friendly administration.
