Suicide cases can be reduced by proper educating and awareness rising. Speakers in workshop CHITRAL: To discourage and minimize increasing ratio of suicide cases especially among the youth & women folk a daylong workshop was held at Chitral model College for women. Legal Awareness Program for Human rights (LAPH) sponsored by Strengthening Participatory Organization (SPO) the target group were teachers and students of the college to create awareness among them about bad impact of Suicide cases conducted the workshop. Main objective of the workshop was creating of awareness about suicide cases and reducing its ratio. Monitoring and Evaluation Officer of LAPH Miss Fauzia shared the activities, aim and objectives of LAPH with the participants. She said that suicide ratio at Chitral and especially in women folk and women have been raised for the last 2 years, which is a sign of thread. She gestures some elements causes of suicide cases briefly. She said that women and youth often committed suicide due to sever depression, regular use of drug and narcotics, tension, mentally depression and access to weapon. She said that depriving them from their rights and some domestic practices and discriminations provoked and compelled them for committing suicide. For group working the participants were divided in 4 groups to point out solutions of suicide cases. They identified that suicide cases can be reduced by regular workshops and seminar for youth to guide them following good life and explore bad impact of suicide. To promote religious education, organizing programs on prevention of suicide cases through print and electronic media, avoid early marriages and providing social justices can play vital role in decreasing and eradicating of suicides, which are the main factors. The participants suggested for continuation of awareness raising seminars on the title at remote localities of Chitral and conducting such type of fruitful workshop for parents too to sensitize them about their children rights and eradicating of discriminations among daughters and sons. The participants assured that they will impart and communicate theses information and message to other especially it will be shared with women and youth. Meanwhile LAPH also conducted a school campaign on human rights in collaboration with Human rights Monitoring committee (HRMC) Drosh for students and teachers of government middle school Shahnigar Drosh some 45 KM from here. A large number of students and teachers attended the event. Main objectives of the workshop were creating of awareness among the students and teachers about human rights and especially of women rights. Miss Safina Chairperson of HRMC Drosh highlighted role and responsibilities of teachers and students regarding implantation and protecting human rights. She also briefed the participants about their progress and services of HRMC Drosh in this regard. Miss Aatia a female teacher of local Madrassa explained violations of women rights before Islam. She said that Islam is the only religious show bestowed real rights to women in property and all fields of life, which were never given by other, religious. Head teacher of the school Miss Qudrat Bibi thanked LAPH management for organizing this campaign in their school for sensitizing students and teachers about human cum women rights. CIADP role hailed by politicians and elites of Chitral. CHITRAL: veteran politician, leader of Pakistan Peoples Party and former Nazim Sardar Hussain of Booni highly appreciated role of Chitral Integrated Area Development Program (CIADP) for launching of a number of uplift schemes in remote and backward areas of Chitral. He said that before launching of this project most backward areas were ignored by other projects but this is CIADP who extending their developmental schemes to all localities of Chitral equally. He strongly criticized and condemned some elements and public leaders for politicizing this project and termed their negative approach and tactics for exiling and discourage CIADP staff as anti Chitral behaviors. He said while talking to local journalists in past these leaders involved in embezzlement of million rupees but no one asked from them but now they blackmailing and want to exile out this project from Chitral only for their political revenge and race of gaining credits for cheap popularity. He assured Thrive who are the implementing organization of CIADP for their full support and providing them all moral and physical support. Sardar Hussain also thanked Norwegian government for releasing of fund in billions for different uplift schemes of Chitral and requests these politician and elements to not harass CIADP. He proposed them for fully cooperation with management staff so at to continue uplifts schemes at Chitral without any hurdles otherwise he warned that if these elements continue these negative practices workers of PPP will fully oppose and protest against them to be restrained them from these blackmailing and negative propaganda against CIADP. He once again declared that they will fully support CIADP and ready for every sacrifice to success and continuation of this integrated project at Chitral. G.H.
