Kabul: At least six schoolchildren have been killed and nine civilian Afghans wounded in a suicide attack in Paghman district of Kabul province Saturday morning.
Three Italian soldiers were also inured in the attack, confirmed Afghan Interior Ministry spokesman Zamaray Bashari.
‘The bomber blew himself near “Cheena Bulbul” area of the district where Italian soldiers were working on the construction of a bridge at local time 10:00 am’ added Bashari.
Taliban militants have claimed the responsibility of the attack.
In the first week of this month, a suicide attack in Baghlan province killed at least 60 school children and a few parliamentarians. Schools, students and teachers are a common target of the militants in Afghanistan.
According to officials, suicide attacks, bomb blasts, target killing, beheadings, kidnappings and threatening by the militants has resulted into the closure of at least 500 schools across the country.
