Jammu, December 23 (Scoop News) –Jammu and Kashmir Governor, N. N. Vohra, today highlighted the need for focusing on character building and imparting moral education along with achieving academic excellence for a balanced personality development of the youth.

Referring to the education, boarding, lodging and other facilities being provided free to a large number of orphan children in this School, the Governor said that all schools with adequate resources must come forward in a big way to provide educational facilities free of cost to disadvantaged children.
The Governor while referring to the beautiful and sprawling campus of the School said that this institution, set up by the late Maharaja Harisingh, has been benefiting generations by imparting sound education to the children. He observed that the school has made a significant contribution towards human resource development and encouragement of sports and extra-curricular activities. He observed that that the society owed thanks to the erstwhile rulers for promoting activities in many areas, particularly art, culture and education.
The Governor appreciated the colourful cultural programme presented by the students on the occasion and said that it represented their high talent and discipline. The cultural bonanza comprised dance drama “Krina Leela” and “Jannat Ka Nazara”.
The Governor was presented Guard of Honour and inspected the Parade and took salute at March Past in which five contingents comprising 150 students took part.
The First Lady gave away prizes to the meritorious students who have excelled in academics. e interacted with them and wied them bright careers ahead.
The Governor and the First Lady were presented bouquets by the Head Girl and Head Boy of the School. They were also presented mementos on the occasion.
Earlier, on arrival at the function, the Governor and the First Lady were received by the management, staff and students of the School.
In his welcome address, the Manager of the School, Capt. Dewan Singh, gave details of the evolution and growth of this institution in the past decades and its contribution in promotion of education in the State. He thanked the Governor and the First Lady for blessing the students at the Annual Day function and added that this would be a great source of inspiration for them.
The Principal of the School, Yoge Khosla, in his Report, threw light on the achievements of the institution in academics and extra-curricular activities.
The Regional Director, DAV Schools, s. Puran Prabha arma, was the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
The function was attended by a large gathering comprising management, staff, students, their parents and prominent citizens.
