There was a huge investigation back in 2003 over the case of leaking out the name of Valerie Plame, who was a CIA operative. Now following the scandal, "Scooter" Libby, the only one to stand trial has lost his law license.
On October 22, 2007, Valerie Plame’s book titled “Fair Game: My Life as a Spy, My Betrayal by the White House” was published. She could be considered as the “Jane Bond” of the United States.
In the leak scandal, many high profile figures were implicated such as Robert Novak of the Chicago Sun Times, Carl Rove who was George W. Bush’s chief of staff, possibly Vice President Dick Cheney, and many more. However, the only one that was convicted was “Scooter” Libby.
Libby was convicted of perjury. However, his sentence was commuted. Libby did not have to serve any time. However, he is on probation for two years.
The United States Court of Appeals moved to remove Libby’s DC law license.
“When a member of the bar is convicted of an offense involving moral turpitude, disbarment is mandatory,” the court had ruled.
However, many have expected Libby’s license to practice law in Washington DC to be removed.
